Name:Slayer
Category:Profession
Description:A slayer is someone who hunts and kills one or more kinds of enemies. A slayer usually isn't an Assassin For Hire, but rather someone who has a personal vendetta against a particular group and murders entities belonging to that group.
Note that it only makes sense for a slayer to slay beings that are inherently dangerous (e.g. bears, dragons, orcs, wizards). A slayer who slays peasants isn't a slayer, but rather some kind of psychopath.
Some slayers have a relatively broad category of creatures that they hunt, while others only hunt a particular kind.
Slayers aren't normally "evil" per se. They are usually hunting creatures that are a menace to society.
Combat Technique:Any, but slayers should have the ability to kill the creatures they target quickly. If they don't, they won't be effective.
Preferred Skills:Combat skills and magic that inflicts lots of damage or kills quickly.
Benefit:A slayer may have a good reputation with people who have been terrorized by the entities the slayer is targeting.
Disadvantage:Assuming the targets they hunt are intelligent, the slayers' targets might hunt them as well.
Fictional Examples:Anita Blake (Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series) starts out as a vampire hunter but winds up killing all sorts of monsters and more or less becoming a monster herself. Buffy (Buffy the Vampire Slayer series) is similar to Anita Blake but more campy and less sexual. Eduardo (Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series) is an all-purpose slayer who targets any kind of supernatural monster.
Real World Examples:Appropriate For:Anyone, but usually not villains.
