The career soldier could be of any rank, depending upon the game world and her experience level (or equivalent game standing).
Combat Technique: A career soldier will do whatever works. They'll employ any tactic to win a battle - that's how they've survived so long. A career soldier won't think twice about throwing sand in an enemy's eyes. If a career soldier has some sense of honor, he's really more like a Knight.
If he's an officer, he can also coordinate armies in massive attacks.
Preferred Skills: Any sort of combat skill. Officers also require an understanding of military tactics.
Benefit: The career soldier has a powerful benefactor, namely whoever the career soldier serves. In some cases, she may be immune to prosecution by civilians, but is always vulnerable to court martial.
Disadvantage: People usually can identify career soldiers as being some sort of military type even when they're in disguise. More importantly, the career soldier's employer will send her on whatever quests he fails like. Failing her employer can end a career soldier's career.
