Name:Archaeologist
Category:Profession
Description:An archaeologist is someone who studies ancient culture by examining remains from the past. In games, these people are typically found digging up ancient ruins. They are invariably attacked by ancient or undead creatures of some kind, and the player typically has to rescue them.
It would be refreshing to play a game where archaeologists played some other role.
Archaeologists in modern settings (and real life) typically have some kind of PHD and use the title "doctor".
Combat Technique:Archaeologists typically have no combat skills. There are some exceptions.
Preferred Skills:Ancient languages, anthropology, archaeology, history, etc.
Benefit:Archaeologists know a great deal, especially about whatever ancient culture they're studying.
Disadvantage:None, though they do tend to dig up monsters who kill them.
Fictional Examples:Daniel Jackson (Stargate SG-1) and Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark) are examples of warrior-archaeologists. Daniel Jackson is in the unique situation of discovering the ancient civilization alive and well.
Real World Examples:Appropriate For:Anyone.
